XRDS Future Meeting 7/22/10
Put thoughts here
- One/two of us may be selected as representative to have a Skype meeting with the Advisory Baord Members. The meeting with the advisers should not include all of us to make the discussion precise and to the point. (Malay)
- Computer Science research is focused over conefernces/symposiums, rather than over journals/magazines. We should have a strong focus on the conference calender/calls and events section. They are generally left to be the last job in each issue. Rather, there should be proper break-up of responsibility for this among the department editors. I found Jill to search for images to post on the event page. It is not right. (Malay)
- Copyediting was a bit of a problem with the previous issue – Tom ended up doing a fair bit himself. We currently have a point person assigned to each department. Shall we assign a point copyeditor too? (James)
These points are from Inbal’s email:
1) Should we try to get feedback from (potential) readers on a larger or more systematic scale than we currently are? (some kind of poll or focus group, or web tool)
2) Should we open up more of our content on the web? (alternative models such as everything from current issue open).
3) Should we get more diverse content? (maybe we could categorize our feature ideas by area, or recruit people in areas we’re missing)
4) After a year I still feel I don’t know most of the editors (especially of course the new people) – any ideas?
